Inclusion is an essential factor in the formation of a human being and in the development of society, occuping a sepecial focus on people with special needs. In this framework, equine assisted therapy proves to be a privileged instrument of intervention with the search engines of social and cognitive benifits, also promoting intergration and social participation.
The concept: The Cascais Equestrian Centre develops therapeutic practice under the model of ENE ( Escola Nacional de Equitação ) and HETI ( Federation of Horses in Education and Therapy International ). The team at CHC is composed of healthy professionals, therapeutic riding technicians and riding monitors. To carry out the various activites we have horses specificallly trained for this purpose.
Assumptions:
The relationship skills with horses is relatively independent of releationship skills with the human being.
Horses have asubmissive status that provides safety, even for someone who has low self - esteem and confidence.
The horses communication skills interacts sucessfully with the feelings, actions and emotions of a human being, these benefits gained socially through the relationship with the horse transfers through to the daily lives of our students.
